The Colorado State Patrol has identified two of the teenagers killed in a crash near Conifer on Tuesday.
A Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling south on Foxton Road, east of U.S. 285, rolled around 4:40 p.m., said Trooper Nate Reid, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
Three teenagers were killed and a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured.
The victims were 19-year-old John Yoder of Denver; the driver, 18-year-old Jake Whitting, of Glen Head, New York; and a 16-year-old male who is not being identified due to his age, the Colorado State Patrol said.
The 17-year-old who was serious injured is from Kansas, CSP said. His name was not released.
A Denver7 employee whose son went to school with Yoder a few years ago said Yoder was a phenomenal athlete and a great kid.
The Salina Journal said Whitting was the valedictorian of the St. John’s Military School.
The newspaper reported that all four people in the truck were from the school and that the teens were on a camping trip.
The Colorado State patrol told Denver7 alcohol and/or drugs are suspected and will be investigated by the coroner.
