Texas teen dies at Copper Mountain Ski Resort

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. - A 13-year-old boy From Texas died while skiing on a beginner trail at Copper Mountain Friday.

The accident was reported on the Vein Glory Trail at about 12:53 p.m., according to Copper Mountain.  The ski patrol responded and provided first-aid treatment.  The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Saint Anthony's Medical Copper Mountain Medical Clinic, according to ski resort spokesman Austyn Williams.

The victim was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m.

Summit County Coroner Tim Keeling said the boy struck a tree while skiing. He identified the victim as Tristan Bartlett, from Houston.

Keeling said the investigation into the boy's death was continuing.
