DENVER -- A "food fight" in Denver took a violent turn on Sunday night when a taco truck parked outside of Donald Trump's Denver headquarters suffered a break-in by vandals.

Jose Gonzalez, the truck's owner, said the truck had been parked over the weekend and vandals struck on Sunday night.

The vandals, he said, broke his safe box, stealing roughly $300, then damaged much of the truck's equipment.

A police report has been filed, Gonzalez said, but no suspects have been caught.

The "food fight" sparked last week when the founder of a group called Latinos for Trump made some incendiary  comments about Latino culture.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. My culture is a very dominant culture. And it's imposing, and it's causing problems. If you don't do something about it, you're going to have taco trucks on every corner," said Marco Gutierrez.

Following Gutierrez's comments, Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez asked Gonzalez to park his food truck nearby.
