SWAT standoff ends peacefully at Aurora mobile home park after stabbing at 17501 E. Colfax Ave.

Stabbing suspect surrenders

AURORA, Colo. - A standoff at a mobile home park has ended after a stabbing at 17501 E. Colfax Ave. on Sunday morning.

Aurora Police said the standoff began after a man stabbed a woman in a mobile home  about 3 a.m. at Woodshire East Mobile Home Community.

Aurora Police tweeted just before 9:45 a.m. that the standoff ended when the suspect surrendered as Aurora SWAT was waiting for a search warrant to enter a home there. Police said the victim of stabbing in serious condition.

A resident said a 6-month-old baby was left alone inside the trailer where the stabbing occurred after all the adults fled. The baby's mother was at work at the time of the incident and had left her infant in her brother's care, the resident said.

SWAT officers had evacuated residents from a couple mobile homes at about 6:30 a.m. SWAT had an armored vehicle on scene.

Police at one point used two K-9s to search Sand Creek, which runs along the east side of the mobile home park. The creek is thick with vegetation. It did not appear that the police dogs located anyone on the creek.
