All clear given after suspicious person alert on DU campus

DENVER, Colo. - The University of Denver has sent out an "all clear" after an earlier warning telling people to stay inside or seek safety of the nearest building.

The "all clear" tweet was sent at 9:27 p.m. and said "there is no longer a threat to the DU community."

The earlier warning came after DU said a "suspicious person" was spotted on campus at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday.  A later tweet said Denver police were looking for an "armed & dangerous" person, but DPD spokesman Sonny Jackson denied that they were looking for an armed and dangerous person.

The earlier tweets from DU sounded ominous.

"Stay inside. If outside, seek safety in nearest bldg. Await ALL CLEAR message," a tweet said.  Another tweet said the person was spotted near the 1900 block of South University Blvd., headed north.  That is just south of Buchtel Boulevard.

7NEWS has calls in to DU to gather more information about what prompted the earlier warning.
