Separate but similar robberies at Macy's

Lone Tree Police are investigating two robberies at two different Macy’s, that happened on Wednesday evening.

The first robbery happened at the Southwest Plaza Mall at about 5:30 p.m., according to the city of Lone Tree spokesperson Kristen Knoll.

Three Hispanic males went into the Macy’s and two of them started to grab numerous Polo clothing. When employees approached the suspects, one of the suspects took out a chemical spray and used it to get away, according to Knoll.

The suspects used the spray as they ran out of the store, affecting some of the customers in the area.

All three suspects were seen getting into a gold Chevrolet SUV with no front license plate.

Police released the following descriptions of the suspects:

  • Hispanic male, 5’6”, 180 pounds, wearing a black jacket and shirt with dark baggy pants, an orange “Broncos” ball cap, with goatee and a tattoo on the right side of his neck.
  • Hispanic male, 5’9”, 170 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, a black and grey ball cap and tattoos on his hands.
  • Hispanic male, 5’8”, 160 pounds, wearing a black pullover jacket with orange stripes under the arms.

Later that same evening, at around 7:35 p.m., the Lone Tree Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the Macy’s store in the Park Meadows Mall. Police interviewed a loss prevention officer who was suffering from the side effects of being exposed to pepper spray.

Police say two Hispanic females and one Hispanic male were involved in this robbery.

The suspects in this robbery were described as:

  • Hispanic male, late teens – early 20’s, 5’9”, 170 pounds, wearing a red jacket with a gray shirt underneath, and dark pants.
  • Hispanic female, late teens – early 20’s, 5’3”, 160 pounds, wearing a red pullover hoodie, dark pants, and dark shoes.
  • Hispanic female, late teens – early 20’s, 5’7”, 150 pounds, wearing a black zip hoodie, red pants, dark shoes and wearing large hoop earrings.

A red hooded polo jacket that was taken from the first robbery, was seen being worn by a suspect in the surveillance video at the Park Meadows Mall store.
