A suspect in a fatal shooting at a mobile home park in Boulder says he shot the victim to protect a pregnant woman, who is also facing charges in the incident.

The Daily Camera reports that 51-year-old Cody Nelson was arrested Friday on suspicion of first-degree murder. Thirty-one-year-old Miriam Nayeh was arrested on charges of domestic violence and accessory to murder in the death of Andrew Duncan. Both suspects are set to appear in court Tuesday.

According to an affidavit, Nelson says he shot the 31-year-old man after Duncan assaulted Nayeh and dragged her out of a trailer.

The affidavit also says Nayeh told investigators Duncan was abusive toward her and that she was pregnant with his child.

Booking documents don't indicate if either suspect has hired an attorney.
