LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Lakewood police arrested an armed robbery suspect Saturday after they said he bought a change of clothes.

The holdup happened shortly after 1 p.m. at Supplement Giant, 98 Wadsworth Blvd, police said.

A man appeared to shop for several items then pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

About 25 minutes later, a police officer noticed a man matching the robber's general description. The officer stopped the man and determined he had evidence tying him to the crime.

Police determined the suspect went into a nearby clothing store, bought a change of clothes and left the store.  That's when he was stopped by police.

Officers arrested Adam James Wainwright, 35, for investigation of aggravated robbery and second-degree kidnapping.  He also has a warrant for his arrest in a theft case out of California, police said.
