Suspect SUV sought in Arvada gun store burglary; police say more than $100K in ammo taken

Police: No guns taken in theft

ARVADA, Colo. - Arvada Police say they are seeking the public's help to identify an SUV sought in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 in ammunition from a trailer owned by an area gun store.

The burglary at OD Green Supply occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 20, according to the Arvada Police Department.

The trailer was parked in the rear parking lot of the business, with the ammunition locked inside ready for shipment, police said.

The thieves broke the locks, drove off with the trailer and then ditched it at a gas station about 1 1/2 miles away.

The vehicle used in the theft is described as a 2000 to 2006 model Chevy Tahoe, white with distinct black markings.

The thieves also stole several other miscellaneous items, but no guns were taken from the trailer, officers said.

Matthew Judd, manager of OD Green Supply, told 7NEWS that ammunition is one of the last things he would want to fall into the wrong hands.

"Anytime something is taken from you, you have that sense of violation and things like that. Given the climate in the state over the last 12 to 14 months, it's desirable. It's definitely something there would be a market for," said Judd.

Police are asking that anyone with more information on the crime call them at 720-898-6900.
