Suspect in fatal Thornton hit & run arrested

THORNTON, Colo. - A 26-year-old Thornton man has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run last Thursday.

Police said a pedestrian was struck by a cargo van in 9800 block of Race Street.

Police said the pedestrian was also struck by a second vehicle just before 10 p.m. and it also left the scene.  The driver of the second vehicle was contacted at their residence in the area and released, pending further investigation.

Police determined the first vehicle that his the pedestrian was a 1995 Chevrolet cargo van and developed information that the van was in the 3500 block of E. 107th Avenue.  Officers located the van in that area and observed the suspect, Dannel Bond Kimble, leave a home and enter the van. Officers contacted the suspect and he was taken into custody at approximately 10:38 a.m., Saturday,  for investigation of vehicular homicide.

The identity of the victim is still being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
