Substantial damage after fire burns home on Cougar Drive in Boulder County

BOULDER, Colo. - A house fire overnight did substantial damage to a home in Boulder County, according to the County Sheriff's Office.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 700-block of Cougar Drive at 12:06 a.m. Monday.

First, the occupants said they had smoke coming from their fireplace. Then they said their home was on fire, officials with the Sheriff's Office said.

Firefighters from six agencies fought the fire -- Rocky Mountain Fire, 4-Mile Fire, Nederland Fire, Louisville Fire, Coal Creek Fire and Boulder Mountain Fire.

The two residents evacuated and were not hurt, officials said.

The cause of the fire in under investigation.
