AURORA, Colo. - Dozens of small business owners are frustrated with the lack of payments on the Aurora VA Medical Center project.
At least 33 businesses involved in the construction say they are owed about $40 million. The contractor is accused of not paying them for work they've already performed, according to Greg Lopez, district director for Small Business Association. Lopez spoke on behalf of the small business owners, since most of them have a confidentiality clause.
Lopez said he met with leaders of the VA on Thursday and said some progress was made and a few of the businesses will be paid soon.
