Restaurant Ted Vong chases robbery suspect, holds man at gunpoint until police arrive

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - When a restaurant owner heard a nearby business had been robbed, he took matters into his own hands.

Colorado Springs Police said the man grabbed his gun and chased the suspect.

That Short Stop owner, Ted Vong, told KKTV, he caught the suspect five blocks away and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Officers said the suspect then advanced on them and an officer shot the suspect with a Taser.

The suspect, 50-year-old Michael W. Bass, was taken to the hospital after telling police he had ingested several harmful substances.
