PARKER, Colo. - A Colorado State Patrol trooper was sent to the hospital Sunday morning after his patrol car hit a deer in Parker.

The crash happened near E. Stroh Road and S. Parker Road around 5:30 a.m., said CSP spokesman Nate Reid.

After hitting the deer, the trooper's vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree, Reid said. The airbags deployed preventing the trooper from being seriously injured, he added.

The trooper was taken to a hospital in Littleton with moderate injuries.
