Denver's tourism promotion team thinks Saturday's Stadium Series is providing the city with an impressive economic boost.

According to Denver Sports Executive Director Matthew Payne, it's not clear how big of a boost the city will see from the much anticipated outdoor NHL hockey game. However, Coors Field sold out more than 50,000 tickets for the Avalanche-Red Wings game and hotels and restaurants likely saw a flood of customers over the weekend.

"This is the first time for this event. So, it's really hard to know what our impact is going to be," Payne said. "But if you walk into any of the restaurants, they'll tell you quite a bit of uptick his happening in the city."

The Stadium Series in Denver is just one of two games scheduled in America for 2016. Payne said it's likely many hotels were booked out.

"If you walk around there's a lot of Red Wings Jerseys. I think it's pretty safe to say there's a lot of people coming in," Payne said.
