SHERIDAN, Colo. - A speeding driver hit a police officer looking for speeders in Sheridan early Thursday, officials said.
The car slammed into the police cruiser on West Hampden Avenue near South Federal Boulevard at about 1 a.m., Sheridan Police Department Commander Dave Runco said.
The female driver was going over 80 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone, Runco told 7NEWS.
Both the officer and the female driver went to the hospital. The officer was treated for minor injuries and released, according to Runco.
Investigators said they believe the driver was impaired.
The officer was pulled over using a radar gun to look for speeders at the time of the crash, Runco said.
