White powder found in package delivered to Littleton home was benign, fire officials said

LITTLETON, Colo. - A white powder found in a package delivered to a Littleton home on Tuesday was determined to not be hazardous, fire officials said.

A woman resident told authorities she received a FedEx package containing the unknown powder at her home on Tuesday afternoon, Littleton spokeswoman Kelli Narde said. The package was sent from an unknown address in Indiana.

The resident brought the package to Littleton City Center at 2255 W. Berry Ave, Narde said.

Littleton police officers quickly sealed the powder and both the resident and the package were taken outside of the building, Narde said. Hazardous materials teams from Littleton Fire Rescue and South Metro Fire Rescue attempted to identify the substance and decontaminate the resident.

Littleton Fire spokesman Mark Stokes said the powder was found to not be a chemical threat. The powder was turned over the Postal Inspector and FBI for further evaluation.
