FORT CARSON, Colo. – Fort Carson on Wednesday released the name of the soldier found dead on the base Monday morning.

Soldiers found Pfc. Kyle J. Walls, 21, dead in his barracks Monday morning. Fort Carson says his cause of death is still under investigation.

Walls, originally from Ponca City, Oklahoma, joined the U.S. Army last November and arrived at Fort Carson Sept. 5.

Walls was embedded with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and was a microwave systems operator/maintainer.

He had not been deployed in his 11 months of service, but had earned the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Basic Parachutist Badge.

“It is always hard to lose a part of our military family,” said Fort Carson spokesperson Dani Johnson. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Walls’ family and friends during this very difficult time.”
