Social 'misbehavior' could get you jail time in Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. - Boulder could impose jail time for petty offenses, place more restrictions on where people can panhandle and issue bans for repeat offenders as part of a crackdown on people who misbehave.

At a Boulder City Council study session Tuesday to discuss "social misbehavior," council members expressed broad support for plan to make some areas less appealing for people who hang around, including many people who are homeless.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports council members told City Attorney Tom Carr on Tuesday they support measures under way to keep repeat offenders in jail longer if their offenses occur in areas like the Pearl Street Mall and municipal property.
