Snowy, slushy, wet roads across the Denver metro area Monday morning

Multiple crashes reported

DENVER - Be prepared for a variety of winter driving conditions around the Denver metro area this morning.

Side streets remain icy and snow-covered from the weekend snowfall.

Conditions on the highways vary from wet to snowy to slushy. Ramps and bridges tend to be especially icy in this type of weather.

7NEWS Reporter Eric Lupher reported seeing black ice on the exit ramp from Interstate 70 to Wadsworth Blvd at 5 a.m.

7NEWS Traffic Anchor Jayson Luber reported a rollover on northbound I-25 at Orchard that caused traffic to back up to C-470 at 6:45 a.m.

There were earlier crashes on northbound Highway 85 after 120th Ave. and on northbound Interstate 225 before Alameda Ave. at 5:45 a.m.

As the snow begins to thaw, splash-back from other vehicles could also be an issue.

Leave early to give yourself extra drive time and keep plenty of space between the car in front of you to allow for more time to stop.
