LONGMONT, Colo. – Smucker's has secured the land it needs to build a new $340 million Uncrustables manufacturing plant in Longmont.
Weld County property records show J.M. Smucker, LLC bought a vacant lot at Highway 119 and Fairview Street from Highway 119 Holdings, LLC for $4.65 million.
The company announced plans for the facility in January and Longmont is offering $6.5 million in incentives to help the project along.
The new facility will be built in two phases, the first of which will cost $200 million and create 250 jobs. If demand allows, Smucker's plans to expand the facility to make room for up to 500 employees. Workers at the facility are expected to make an average of more than $48,000 a year.
Construction is expected to begin soon, with a goal of starting production in 2019.
