COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A small plane crash-landed in a field north of the Colorado Springs Airport Wednesday morning, injuring two people aboard.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports the Cessna 172 lost power shortly after taking off from the airport.
Authorities say the injuries were minor but both people were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Airport officials say their operations weren't affected.
Officials at nearby Peterson Air Force Base say one gate was closed to keep traffic out of the way of emergency responders, but it has reopened. The officials say no other operations were disrupted.
Peter Knudson, a spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board, told the Gazette the Cessna took off from airport heading north and lost power, making the force landing about half-mile north of the airport, around 7:55 a.m.
