DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - Fire crews snuffed a small grassland fire in the Castle Pines area of  Douglas County on Monday afternoon.

South Metro Fire Rescue spokeswoman Becky O'Guin said the grass fire burned near Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Boulevard. She said the initial estimate was that the fire was about a half acre to one acre in size.

The fire prompted pre-evacuation messages for a half-mile area in Castle Pines, but O'Guin said no evacuations were ordered and no structures were threatened.
