ASPEN, Colo. - The skier who died on Aspen Mountain Saturday after apparently colliding with a tree has been identified.
A 911 call was received at about 2:45 p.m. Saturday about a skier who had been found unconscious, tangled up in trees, near the Bellissimo ski run.
Ski patrollers were alerted and immediately began performing CPR on the unresponsive man, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
While there were no known witnesses to the accident, rescuers surmised that the man left the designated ski trail and collided with trees, suffering head trauma upon impact.
Authorities identified the man as Jonathan Stuart, a 56yearold Aspen resident.
