MORRISON, Colo. - A hiker found a human skeleton at Red Rocks Park last week, less than a half mile from the amphitheater.

The hiker told a Jefferson County deputy that he and two other friends were hiking when they found the skeleton on Dec. 14, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer. The deputies followed the hikers back and after an investigation the skeleton was collected and removed.

Techmeyer said the skeleton was found amid thick brush on rugged terrain. It was bleached, wearing blue sweatpants or shorts and appeared to have "been there for quite some time."

There were no obvious signs of injury or trauma, Techmeyer said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the JeffCo Sheriff’s Office tipline at 303-271-5612.
