GOLDEN, Colo. - Video posted on YouTube shows a skateboarder going about 40 mph colliding with a deer on Lookout Mountain Road during the Buffalo Bill Downhill race over the weekend.

"Dude totally tackles a deer!!!," said the person who posted the video on Saturday with the title, "When reindeers attack!"

The video shows the deer running across the road, colliding with the skateboarder and the two of them rolling into the trees and dirt on the side of the road.

The skateboarder, Ryan Vitale, 17, a Salt Lake City high school junior, has been skateboarding for two years.

“I  didn't know it was coming at me. It just all happened really fast," Vitale told 7NEWS reporter Jaclyn Allen.

The teen walked away with serious scrapes, but no broken bones. The deer was OK.

The event has had exciting crashes before.

Last year, a helicopter shooting video of the race crash-landed next to spectators. No one was hurt.
