NORTHGLENN, Colo. - Two officers walking up to a car during a traffic stop were suddenly shot at Tuesday night.
Northglenn police said an officer saw a car leave the Ramada Inn on 120th Avenue and begin weaving in traffic about 11:15 p.m.
The officer stopped the car and when his backup arrived, both officers began to walk up to the vehicle.
Northglenn police said that's when a male passenger in the back seat of the car opened fire.
Neither officer was hit as the vehicle drove off.
Northglenn police said the officers got back to their vehicles and chased the car.
The officers were shot at continually during the case, Northglenn Police said.
The vehicle chase ended eight miles away at a field near E-470 and Washington Street in Thornton.
Two men and two women jumped out of the vehicle and ran, Thornton Police said.
All four were captured.
Charles Chacon, Desiree Pitts and Jeremy James were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault on a police officer, felony eluding and other charges, police said. Chacon and James were wanted on several outstanding warrants.
The second woman was interviewed and released with no charges, police said.
