Shot fired during attempted robbery of Aurora Target

AURORA, Colo. - One shot was fired inside an Aurora Target store Friday on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

According to police, no one was injured when a masked gunman fired into the ceiling at the Target pharmacy just off South Havana Street near East Idaho Place just before 6:30 p.m.

"It is unclear at this time the circumstances surrounding the incident ," said  Aurora police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson.  "Officers are in the area attempting to locate the suspect."

Police said the gunman was a white man in his 20s, about 6-feet 2-inches tall, weighting 180 pounds.  He was wearing a black ski mask and had spiked hair.  He also had a goatee, police said.

The store was evacuated but some customers in the store weren't even aware a robbery had occurred, according to police.

The gunman was last seen running north from the store.
