2 arrested after shot fired at employee of Denver garden store; fleeing suspects crash Jeep

Denver police arrest 2 after brief manhunt

DENVER - Two men have been arrested after police say one of them shot at an employee at a west Denver gardening center.

The drama began about 11 a.m. Thursday when two men walked into Dardano's Flowerland at 1205 W. Evans Ave., said Denver Police spokesman John White.

The men asked for a male employee by name and when the worker appeared, one of the men fired a shot at the employee but missed, White said.

The two men jumped into a Jeep and took off, triggering a police pursuit that ended when the Jeep went out of control and crashed into a building near South Clayton Street and West Dakota Avenue, White said.

The men ran from the wreck. Police quickly apprehended one man and caught the other one soon afterward.

Police identified the suspects Thursday afternoon as as Samuel Edelem, 35, and Daniel Gomez, 33.

White said the two men face attempted murder charges.

Dardano's website describes it as "Colorado's 1st Supermarket Garden Center."  It grows and sells bedding plants, among other things.
