DENVER - Attorneys for a second Democratic senator potentially facing a recall election will challenge the effort on Wednesday.
Gun rights advocates successfully collected enough signatures on recall petitions for Angela Giron and Democratic Senate President John Morse, both of whom voted in favor of stricter firearm laws.
However, both Giron and Morse are fighting the recall efforts. Giron's attorneys are arguing that the petition against Giron did not expressly call for an election as the state constitution requires. It's the same argument Morse used last week.
Deputy Secretary of State, Suzanne Staiert, is expected to rule today on the Morse protest.
If that protest fails, Gov. John Hickenlooper could set a recall election as soon as August 3rd.
