DENVER – Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.
1. Colorado Rep. accuses GOP Senator of sexual misconduct
Rep. Susan Lontine, D-Denver, is the latest Colorado politician to come forward with sexual harassment accusations against a colleague in Congress. She is accusing Sen. Larry Crowder, R-Alamosa, of making unwanted physical contact on the floor of the House of Representatives as well as making an inappropriate sexual comment.
2. Government briefly shuts down for a second time
The U.S. government was effectively shut down for a second time in less than a month after Sen. Rand Paul pushed for debt caps. A deal was reached nearly two hours later to reopen the shuttered federal government.
3. Another cold front moves in to our state
A First Alert Action Day will begin at 4:30 a.m. Friday and continue through at least 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon for much colder air, snow and slippery roads - especially during the day Saturday. Another cold front will bring chilly air and a chance for snow to Colorado starting Friday and continuing into the weekend.
4. Winter Bike to Work Day
For the first time, Colorado is participating in International Winter Bike to Work Day. On Friday, February 9, pedal your way to the City and County of Denver Pit Stop on the south east corner of the Webb Building, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for breakfast burritos, coffee and hot chocolate.
