EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. - Search and rescue efforts continue for a missing hiker who became separated from his group in the area of the Eiseman Hut, north of Vail, Colo.
Four search and rescue teams and one helicopter are searching approximately 18 square miles for 39-year-old James C. McGrogan, of Chesterton Ind., who was reported missing on Friday, according to the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.
Crews have been searching with four teams and one helicopter from the Colorado Army National Guard, but have been unsuccessful in locating McGrogan.
The hiking group informed deputies that McGrogan decided to continue on ahead of them and had a large pack with food, water, basic medical supplies, a sleeping bag, avalanche beacon, GPS and warm clothing. However, when the group reached Eiseman Hut, McGrogan was unaccounted for.
