Scooter rider hurt in Denver hit-and-run

DENVER - Denver Police blocked Race Street at 17th Avenue after a person on a scooter was seriously injured in a hit and run.

"The guy sped through the stop sign, hit him, flipped on his bike," a witness told 7NEWS.  The hit and run victim was rushed to the hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing four people in a white Mazda 3 heading north on Race Street after the crash at about 8:30 p.m.  As of 10:30 p.m., police had not released additional information on the crash or the suspect vehicle.

"We do not have an update on condition," @DenverPolice tweeted earlier.

Police blocked off the intersection with yellow crime scene tape and evidence markers could be seen in the street near the wrecked scooter as they investigated.
