School starts for Cherry Creek School District, some Aurora Public Schools' students

AURORA, Colo. - Thursday is the first day of school for students in the Cherry Creek School District and students in 1st through 5th grades in Aurora Public Schools.

The Cherry Creek school district educates more than 54,000 children across Cherry Hills Village, Centennial, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village and portions of Aurora, Englewood and Denver.

Aurora Public Schools has nearly 40,000 students in 61 schools.

APS students come from 131 counties and speak 133 different languages.

Jeffco Schools start classes next Monday, followed by Adams 12 Five Star Schools on Wednesday. The Boulder Valley School District and Poudre School District 9th through 12 grades start next Thursday.

Denver Public Schools and kids in K-8 grades in the Poudre District start August 24.
