Robbery report leads to 15 mile chase through Thornton, Commerce City, Denver

THORNTON, Colo. - A report of an armed robbery sent police on a wild chase through three cities early Friday morning.

Thornton Police said officers were in the area of I-25 and 84th Avenue when they got a report that a nearby Burger King had been robbed.

Officers said when they spotted a red, 2-door sedan that matched the description of the getaway vehicle, they tried to stop the car, but the driver fled.

Multiple agencies chased the car through Thornton, Commerce City and Denver.

Thornton police said the vehicle finally stopped near 53rd Avenue and Memphis Street.

A 7News viewer said more than a dozen police vehicles were involved in the chase that ended about 1 a.m.

The 22-year-old driver was arrested. A passenger ran off, but was caught, according to Thornton Police.

No one was hurt in the pursuit, Thornton Police said.
