COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A retired Colorado Springs priest has pleaded not guilty to charges he lured a 15-year-old boy into a sexual relationship.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Rev. Charles Robert Manning, 77, is accused of molesting the boy while he was the pastor at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
According to the arrest affidavit, Manning began giving the boy private lessons in June 2011. He gave the boy alcohol and marijuana, police said, as well as took him to get his nipples pierced.
Manning also kissed the boy one the lips and engaged in other sexual acts, after which he thanked the boy, the affidavit said.
Manning was suspended from the church in January and arrested in May.
Police have said the entire incident took place on a single day and lasted about 30 minutes.
Manning is free on bail and living in a home for retired priests in St. Louis. His trial is set for March 4.
