GEORGETOWN - Unidentified human remains were recovered Sunday during a follow-up search for a missing backcountry skier who has been missing since January.

The remains were found in the area of Berthoud Falls near the Urad Mine in Clear Creek County. Around 60 searchers were looking for 42-year-old Jeremy Rich from the Denver area when the remains were located at the bottom of an avalanche slide area.

Rich failed to return home from a backcountry ski trip on January 28. This was the second major search effort for Rich. The first search was in June and was unsuccessful.

The Clear Creek Coroner is now in possession of the remains and is working on identifying them. The process of identification could take several weeks
