BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – A man caught urinating next to a car led Boulder County Deputies on an overnight chase, which ended in a crash.

Deputies say they spotted Jonathon Hernandez-Cervantez, 18, of Boulder, urinating next to his Volkswagen Jetta parked in the 5500 block of Valmont Road just after midnight Monday.

When the deputy stopped to question the alleged public urinator, deputies say Hernandez-Cervantez got into his Jetta and took off.

The pursuit ended when Hernandez-Cervantez crashed his car at Arapahoe Road and 55th Street. The driver and his passenger, Anthony Garcia-Castilleja, 18, refused to get out of the car, deputies say.

Because of the concern that at least one occupant may be armed, the BearCat armored rescue vehicle was utilized to approach the suspects' vehicle. Both occupants were taken into custody without incident, deputies say.

Hernandez-Cervantez was booked into the Boulder County Jail on eluding and DUI charges. His passenger was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries and released.
