COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A public memorial service for Tom Clements is set for Monday morning in Colorado Springs, the governor's office announced Thursday.
The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at New Life Church, located at 11025 Voyager Parkway.
A private funeral is set for Sunday. Details about the funeral will not be released. Media and the community are asked to respect the family’s request for privacy.
Clements was shot to death while answering the door at his home in Monument Tuesday night.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is actively looking for the gunman but have not released a suspect description. However, they have said they are looking for a "boxy" black or dark colored car, similar to a Lincoln.
Although a motive in the ambush killing has not yet been released, authorities believe he was targeted because of his position as chief of the Department of Corrections.
