Proposal to allow smoking marijuana outside on private property in Denver up for final vote

DENVER - Should people be allowed to smoke marijuana in a front yard or on a balcony if the user can be seen from the street or sidewalk?

That is the decision Denver's City Council will decide tonight.

Last week, council members reversed a previous decision to ban marijuana use on private property if the user can be seen or smelled by others.

The original ban was given initial approval just two weeks ago.

If passed without another unexpected change, the law will allow residents to smoke marijuana on their private property or with permission of a property owner regardless of whether it is visible to passersby.
