CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. -- A fallen South Metro firefighter is being honored Friday.

A service procession for Engineer Michael Freeman follows a memorial service at Denver First Church in Cherry Hills Village. The procession will travel through parts of the south metro area sometime between noon and 2 p.m. Friday.

The community is invited to observe the procession as it travels on Hampden Avenue, University, Arapahoe Road, Yosemite Street, Dry Creek Road and Colorado Boulevard. Traffic will be impacted during this time.

Freeman lost his battle with cancer Sunday after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in May of this year.

Freeman served with the South Metro Fire Rescue for more than 40 years, beginning his career with the Cherry Hills Village Fire Department in 1974.
