Pres. Trump at UN, fire danger and more: 5 things to know for Tuesday, Sept. 19

DENVER — From recovery in the south to changing weather, here's what you need to know to start your Tuesday morning. 

1. President Donald Trump addresses General Assembly
President Trump will address the United Nations General Assembly this morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. MT. Denver7 and ABC News will have live coverage of the speech.

2. Hurricane Maria hits Caribbean
Maria made landfall on Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 160 mph. The storm is moving west-northwest, with Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands in its path.

3. Raising Cane's opens in Castle Rock
Louisiana-based Raising Cane's is opening its first location in Castle Rock today, at 5012 Founders Parkway. Twenty lucky customers will win free food for a year.

4. HOOTenanny Owl & Music Festival begins

5. High fire danger
Fire weather warnings are in effect for the eastern half of Colorado today, with gusty winds and very dry conditons. Denver's precipitation is about 3 inches below normal so far this year.
