Poudre School District votes on cutting class time in August due to high temperatures

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Poudre School District Board of Education will vote Tuesday on whether to reduce the school day for certain grades in August to beat the heat.

High temperatures and the lack of air conditioning in some classrooms has made hundreds of students miserable at the beginning of the school year.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that under the proposal, elementary and middle school students would be released two hours early for the first two weeks of school.

The Poudre School District has 50 schools with approximately 27,000 students.
