FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A high level school district administrator in Fort Collins could be facing termination tomorrow following a series of 7NEWS investigations.
The Poudre School District Board of Education will meet tomorrow. Chuck DeWayne's name is listed under personnel action, "Termination" on the agenda. If approved, Dewayne's termination would be effective Feb. 11.
DeWayne, the Executive Director of Human Resources, was placed on paid-administrative leave in Dec. 2013. Taxpayers pay DeWayne an annual salary of $141,820, according to school district records.
The district would not say why DeWayne was placed on leave citing employee privacy and personnel laws.
7NEWS first exposed DeWayne's business plan, sent on his district email account, which outlined his plans to leverage his position within the district to personally profit through a direct-sales coffee and tea business.
DeWayne is a recognized member of the organization called Organo Gold.
7NEWS also spoke with a school district employee about the business. She came forward after our first report about DeWayne and said another supervisor had invited her to attend an off-campus pitch for Organo Gold.
The Poudre School District appointed an interim director of human resources in January.
