Poudre firefighter hurt in 2-alarm fire in Fort Collins Sunday night

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - One firefighter was hurt in a 2-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Fort Collins Sunday night, 7NEWS confirmed.

The Poudre Fire Authority said two units at the Bull Run Apartments at 820 Merganser Drive were on fire when they arrived at about 11:00 p.m. Officials said the flames were spreading to the attic.

A defensive fire attack strategy had to be used due to the collapse and pending collapse of the roof and ceilings, fire officials said.

Officials declared the fire under control at about 11:15 p.m., but stated that crews still had a lot of work to do.

The injured firefighter was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital/UCH, treated and released, according to Poudre Fire Authority.

No one living in the complex was hurt.

The fire damaged four of the eight units.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
