Following the weekend's winter storm, residents and businesses cleaned up fallen trees and limbs across the area.

Areas like Parker, Castle Rock, Centennial and Aurora all had tree damage spread throughout. Heavy snow took a toll on flowering trees, some of which fell into homes or other buildings.

Landscapers from Swingle Landscaping were cutting limbs from a tree that had a limb fall on top of a home on South Grape Street.

"If there are any limbs that are on a structure, or on a sidewalk or impeding traffic in anyway, we consider that a priority," said Tony Hahn, who said Swingle Landscape received 300 calls by 10:00 a.m. Monday.

"Since it produces flowers and fruit so easily in the Spring. It tends to collect snow," he said of the tree, a spring snow crab apple.

In Aurora, a temporary tree drop off location was designated in a parking lot near Lowry Park. It's open 8:00 a.m through 8:00 p.m. until May 1st. Only tree debris is permitted for disposal there.

"It was on Welling street in Aurora. Just knocked the whole tree down," said Aaron Wyatt. Wyatt's grandfather lost an apple wood tree to the storm.

"This snowstorm hit hard," he said.

The city sent this note in response to questions about the clean up effort:

City employees from Forestry, Parks & Public Works will continue to clean up tree limbs and downed trees on city properties like parks, recreation facilities, medians and arterial roadways, as well as city-owned trees on residential streets. To find out if a resident has city-owned trees in the neighborhood, see our FAQ section at www.auroragov.org/trees or call 303-739-7177.
