Police trying to ID man who attacked woman in east Denver apartment stairwell

DENVER - Denver police are asking the public to help identify a man who attacked a woman in the stairwell of her apartment building.

The woman was assaulted about 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the stairwell of the apartment building at 860 S. Oneida St. The victim called 911 immediately after the attack, police said.

Police released a sketch of the suspect on Tuesday.

The attacker is described as a Hispanic man in his 40s. He's about 5-feet-10-inches tall with a heavy build and a pot belly. He has a mustache, thick eyebrows, acne scarring on his face and a crooked right index finger.

Police said the suspect may be a transient.

Callers can remain anonymous. A reward of up to $2,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and charging of the man responsible for this crime.
