Police: Teen girl says man tried to lure her into blue sedan at W. College Ave. and S. Decatur St.

Denver police searching for car

DENVER - Denver police are investigating a report of a man attempting to lure a teen girl into a car in west Denver on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. near West College Avenue and South Decatur Street, said Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.

The girl, who is under age 17, told police a white man in a blue four-door sedan tried to persuade her to get his car, but she didn’t, Lopez said. Instead the girl reported the incident to police.

The 911 call was initially reported as an attempted kidnapping. However, Lopez said it appears the male driver did not leave the car or attempt to grab the girl.

Police are trying to gather more information and have put out a radio alert telling officers to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

The police radio bulletin described the suspect at a white man in his 20s with a thin mustache. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a multi-colored coat.

The incident happened right outside College View Elementary School. However, College View is a kindergarten-through-fifth grade school, so the teen was not a student there.
