LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A man who was waving a fake handgun around and who pointed it at an RTD bus driver Tuesday around noon was arrested by police after a standoff.

The incident was captured on cell phone video by a bystander. It showed the still-unidentified man pulling the trigger of the gun several times, though nothing happened.

The man hopped aboard an RTD bus and reportedly fired off a shot, frightening its driver and passengers, who stopped at the next bus stop and all got off.

The man barricaded himself inside the back of the bus for about 40 minutes before he eventually surrendered.

West Colfax Avenue was shut down at Oak Street during the situation.

Police say the weapon turned out to be a replica gun – either an air soft pistol or pellet gun. Though the suspect has not been identified at this time, police say he will ace multiple charges.

RTD has no commented on the situation after requests from Denver7.
