LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Lakewood Police didn't find anyone inside an office building after searching for a reported intruder Thursday morning.

Police had the building, located near West 10th Avenue and Kipling Street, surrounded for several hours after receiving a frantic call that someone who didn't belong in the building was inside.

Around 6:30 a.m., police say a woman spotted someone inside her office as she entered the building. The employee safely got out and called police.

Police believe the intruder managed to slip out unnoticed. It's not known why the person was inside.

The nearby Lakewood High School was placed on lockout while police staged at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church. Parts of Kipling Street was shut down during the incident.
